In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some basics on cleaning a golf cart to keep it in great shape both aesthetically and practically. We went over some initial supplies you’ll need, plus how to prep your cart and get started on some interior cleaning tasks.

At Cricket Carts Direct, we’re proud to offer several models of golf carts for sale, plus numerous accessories and forms of expertise to help you maximize your golf cart experience. Today’s part two of our series will go over some additional areas to be looking at when you clean your golf cart.

Seat Cleaning (If Needed)

One part of this process that’s only sometimes necessary is cleaning the seat. If your golf cart’s seat has major spills, such as soda or food messes, it may be worth taking a cloth to before putting in new upholstery.

Usually just some soap and water will do the trick here. For tougher messes, you can use a mild detergent or carpet cleaner that won’t damage any of the fabric.

Windshield Cleaning

It’s important to take care when cleaning the golf cart’s windshield. Many of these types of glass are tinted or treated in a way that requires special care to avoid damage.

For basic dirt and dust, you can use a cloth with warm water and a few drops of soap to clean it up. If there’s a bug splatter on the windshield, you can use some rubbing alcohol to remove it.

For any more major cleaning or care, you should consult the manufacturer’s instructions before taking action.

Tire and Wheel Cleaning

Depending on your climate or terrain, the golf cart tires and wheels may need extra attention from time to time. If there’s mud caked on after a wet driving session, you can use a soft brush to get into the crevices and remove it.

If the wheel has some rust, you can use a wire brush or steel wool to take care of this, plus any other built-up debris or dirt. To clean up any stains on the wheels, you can also use a simple cleaner like Simple Green or soap and water.

General Disinfecting

Depending on the golf cart and its intended use, you may want to do a general disinfecting of the surfaces at least once or twice a year. This includes areas like the steering wheel, cup holders, handles, and foot pedal.

You can use an all-purpose cleaner for this task. Make sure it’s one that won’t damage the material; there are plenty of options made specifically for plastic and rubber surfaces. Once you’ve done a general cleaning, it’s also worth wiping down all handles and other contact points with some rubbing alcohol to be extra sure.

This concludes our two-part series on how to clean your golf cart. By following these tips and tricks, you’ll keep your vehicle looking great for years to come. With regular cleaning and maintenance, you’ll extend the life of your golf cart and make sure it’s always up for a great day out on the course.
