There are several areas of basic maintenance you may be looking to manage for your golf cart, and cleaning will typically be somewhere on this list. Cleaning a golf cart is relatively straightforward as long as you know what you’re doing, and should just involve some basic steps that will not only keep the cart aesthetically pleasing, but also prevent any buildups or other issues that could interfere with operations.

At Cricket Carts Direct, we’re happy to offer a wide range of the best electric golf carts you’ll find, plus various accessories and parts to keep your cart in great shape at all times. In this two-part blog series, we’ll go over some general steps for cleaning a golf cart. Let’s dive in!

Gather Your Supplies

Like any other vehicle cleaning job, you’ll need the right supplies. Make sure to have a sponge, dish soap, water, and other cleaning products like tire cleaner or vinyl protectant on hand. You’ll also need a few microfiber cloths for drying and polishing as you go.

Depending on your desires, you may also want to have some plastic shine or wax polish as well. Not all golf cart owners prioritize a wax or shine finish, however, so this is up to you.

Prep the Cart

Before you begin any cleaning, you’ll need to make sure that the cart is turned off and the key removed. This will ensure your safety while handling the cleaning process.

From there, you may want to remove any decorative items from the exterior of the golf cart such as flags or decorations. If these items are removable, it’s best if they do not stay on while you clean, as this could cause damage.

Basic Interior Cleaning

As you’re getting started, some of the simpler tasks will be those related to the interior of the cart. This includes vacuuming, dusting, and wiping down surfaces with a damp cloth.

When you’re vacuuming, focus on any upholstered areas like the seats and roof as well as around the dashboard for any dirt or debris that may have accumulated over time. Also, pay attention to areas like the floorboard and any compartments. All of these should be vacuumed completely.

When it comes to dusting, you’ll want to focus on any hard surfaces such as the dashboard or steering wheel. You may also need to use a damp cloth here for more stuck-on residue. Finally, be sure to clean any and all windows to make sure you can see out of them clearly.

In the next section, we’ll cover more in-depth cleaning tasks related to the exterior of your golf cart. Stay tuned!

At Cricket Carts Direct, we believe that proper maintenance is key for keeping your golf cart in great shape. Cleaning regularly helps to avoid buildups, and can also restore the original look of your vehicle. With these basic steps, you should be able to keep your golf cart clean without any issue.
